MileBot secures Pre-A funding

Company

MileBot completed a Pre-A financing round worth tens of millions of yuan in April 2018. The round was led by Share Capital, with participation from Lenovo Venture Capital, which had also led the company’s earlier angel round.

CEO Dr. Chen Gong said the funding would support product iteration and clinical trials, while helping the company expand its market presence and build its team.

Developing rehabilitation robotics

MileBot’s research focuses on human–robot interaction using compliant actuators. The company has applied this technology to medical rehabilitation robots, including a lower-limb rehabilitation exoskeleton.

The actuator design and control system are central to the company’s work on force feedback and interaction between the robot and its wearer.

Support for the team and its technology

The investors highlighted the founding team’s technical experience and progress in product development. CEO Dr. Chen Gong and CTO Dr. Ye Jing work at the intersection of robotics and medical rehabilitation. COO Hu Feng brings experience in the robotics industry and market development.

Dr. Chen said the company planned to continue developing its rehabilitation systems around exoskeleton technology and to explore further human–robot interaction applications for compliant actuators.
